Scotland has different tax bands than the rest of the UK
Scotland has its own income tax rates set by the Scottish Parliament, which differ from the rest of the UK. Scottish taxpayers have additional tax bands including a 'starter rate' (19%) and 'intermediate rate' (21%). Your tax code will have an 'S' prefix if you're a Scottish taxpayer. England, Wales, and Northern Ireland all use the same UK-wide income tax rates.
