Child Benefit Calculator
Calculate child benefit and high income charge
1
Children under 16 (or under 20 in approved education/training) qualify for Child Benefit.
Count all children you're responsible for who are: under 16, or under 20 if they're in approved education (A-levels, NVQs, etc.) or on a government-approved training scheme. You don't need to be the biological parent - foster children, adopted children, and stepchildren can all qualify. Each child must live with you (or you must be contributing at least the Child Benefit amount towards their upkeep).
2
If either you or your partner earns over £60,000, you may have to repay some benefit through the High Income Charge.
Enter the 'adjusted net income' of whoever earns most in your household. This is usually your gross salary minus pension contributions and charitable donations. If both you and your partner earn under £60,000, enter 0. The High Income Child Benefit Charge applies to the higher earner regardless of who claims the benefit. Between £60,000-£80,000, you repay 1% of the benefit for every £200 over £60,000. Over £80,000, you repay 100%.
£
Enter the higher earner's annual salary before tax. Leave as 0 if both earn under £60,000.
